Baby girl with cleft lip found abandoned in Srinagar hospital

Srinagar: A five-day-old baby, who was born with a cleft lip, was found abandoned by her parents in a Srinagar Hospital.

The baby, who had not been named, was found abandoned in the corridor of a hospital and is currently being fed through a tube, since she can’t suckle milk properly due to her lip, CNN IBN reported.

“We admitted her and she is being treated. Her lip would be impaired, but to operate her she should be three months old,” Dr Saleem Rehman, Deputy Medical Superintendent, GB Pant hospital, was quoted as saying.

The baby had been properly clothed before being abandoned and doctors suspect she may have been abandoned due to the cosmetic problem.
