Imposter held in Karan Nagar

Police Saturday claimed to have nabbed a imposter who would dupe his co-passengers or cab driver by borrowing money for a few minutes never to return. The accused identified as a 35-year-old man from Pulwama, as per complainants, would cheat people by pretending to be rich man “carrying huge cash with him but without any change”. “The accused would keep a few currency notes rolled in a newspaper and place it in his socks as if it were full of cash,” the police said adding that while asking Tata Sumo driver to stop for a minute at some location he would pretend to get some goods from a nearby shop. “In doing so he would show them that his socks were full of cash bundles but no change and so would ask for Rs 1000 or more for instant purchase,” the police said adding that on getting cash he would give a slip to the cheated. Several such complaints of duping had been pouring in from the City centre areas. Finally some people today caught him allegedly red handed. “But trying to gain sympathy he pinned a nail in his own abdomen,” the police said adding he was rushed to SMHS Hospital where he is undergoing treatment. When contacted the SSP Srinagar Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari said the accused was caught red handed by people who handed him over to police. An FIR vide No 69/2012 under section 420 has been filed against the accused. CRIME Report
